GRV Media Launches The Writer Lab

GRV Media is pleased to announce the launch of The Writer Lab.

The Writer Lab’s activities centre around three main areas:

1. Providing a continuous pool of talent for potential new hires. Mainly geared towards entry-level positions, participants will undertake a paid course for up to four days, learning news and opinion writing, content selection, headline management, and how to generate content that will result in strong engagement from search engines, social, apps and news aggregators. All new employees will also undertake their first week induction through The Lab.

2. Further developing our teams of existing writers in our drive to continually improve the quality of our content offerings.

3. Running a series of four day free courses for UK-based individuals who want to gain entry into the field of digital sports journalism. This will enable participants to receive one-to-one training in a number of key areas with the aim of improving their employability in the job market. All participants will have their work published under their own byline. Further information on this will be available at a later date.

Kieran Smith, the Head of GRV’s The Writer Lab, said: ‘One of the biggest challenges we face as a business is to access and develop new talent. The Writer Lab will play a vital role in identifying potential new hires and better preparing them for a career with us. We are delighted to have recently brought on board five full time graduate hires who came through this programme’.

GRV Media Head of Editorial SEO, Kieran Doody, said: ‘The Writer Lab is an important initiative. Not only will it help us find good quality employees for our fast-growing businesses, but it will also be key for career development within the company. The world we operate in never stands still. It’s vital that we have a formal process in place for our writers to continuously improve, and remain up to date with best practice. The Writer Lab underlines our commitment to raise the bar in terms of the quality of the content we produce.’
